Joe Salome / Co-Founder & Managing Partner of The Georgia Hemp Company

Joe Salome has been building businesses that bring people happiness and healing for as long as he can remember. Beginning in sales and marketing leadership positions at Moe's Southwest Grill, 790 The Zone, and Hair Cuttery- while caring for his mother during her successful battle with cancer, his focus turned to CBD and other hemp-derived natural wellness products. Witnessing how it helped his mother, Salome thought it wrong to deny medical cannabis in favor of dangerous opioids and other brutal pharmaceuticals and decided to do something about it.

In 2014, at the invitation of Rep. Allen Peake (R-Macon), Salome helped develop the Haleigh's Hope Act, Georgia's first law to legalize the possession and use of low-THC medical cannabis. He has remained a respected steward of medical cannabis legislation and recently celebrated the passage of the 2019 Georgia's Hope Act, which legalized limited production, manufacturing, and distribution of low-THC oil.

Salome is co-founder and managing partner of The Georgia Hemp Company and of Sympleaf Wellness, companies that produce, distribute, and sell hemp-based lifestyle and wellness products. He is the co-founder and former CMO of Halcyon Organics, the first medical cannabis company in the South, and is a sought-after media authority and industry consultant on hemp legislation, sourcing, quality control, processing, distribution, and marketing.
